Fort Wayne’s Famous Coney Island

For lunch I met Kyle at Fort Wayne’s Famous Coney Island restaurant, best known for its coney dogs smothered in their sauce and onions served on steamed buns.

If you ever visit Fort Wayne, it is one place I would recommend checking out, but if you do, bring cash as they do not accept checks, credit or debit cards.

They are a small family owned diner and while many businesses have came and went downtown over the past 100 years, they have been in business at the same at 131 W. Main Street since 1914.

The food is good and menu is simple, featuring their Coney dogs for $1.35 along with burgers, baked beans, chili and pies and nothing on the menu is over $4.50, which is probably why it is always packed at lunch time.

(Photo taken from back of the restaurant. Kyle is in the right hand corner saying “Mom, stop taking pictures! Everyone is looking at us!.” Sorry buddy, have camera, must click pics:)
