This is the original location of Zestos in Fort Wayne at 2225 Broadway at the corner of Broadway and Creighton and all summer long you will see neighborhood kids lined up and families with towels wrapped around them that have been to either Sweeney, Lakeside or some other pool at the window ordering a frozen treat.

There is no indoor seating, just a bench on the other side of the establishment which always seems to be occupied or people standing near their vehicles in the parking to in back if they don’t want to risk the ice cream melting this car.

They are a seasonal business that opens usually in late March and closes sometime early Fall (I don’t recall which month).   It has been business around 35 years and has been family owned, although now there are several franchise locations in the area.

The prices and menus are around the same as Dairy Queen and the taste is similar, but there is something about eating ice cream outside on a hot day (and not an air conditioned table or bench inside a restaurant) that makes it more of a refreshing treat.
