St. John’s Catholic Church

While driving on a short trip yesterday we spotted this church and sign next to a gas station that we stopped at on US 27 South just south of the 469 exit.

I loved the mix of old, the beautiful building with a plaque that indicated 1927,  with new, the clever sign and a website on the church sign itself.

I am not Catholic, but I was so intrigued by this that tonight I visited the  website online, and found the church dated back farther than 1927; the first cornerstone for the church was set in place back in 1857 and the website had  100 Year Anniversary Brochure 1857-1957.

They also have a graveyard behind the church but didn’t check it out, but they have pictures online of the gravestones.
