“Escape Plan”

This was a much better movie than I expected it to be.

With having Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger and both of them being blockbuster action heros, it has some of the requisite action/fighting scenes, but it is rounded out by an original plot, some unexpected insight and  Macgyverisms by Stallone in the lead and  Schwarzenegger in a more supporting role.

Stallone plays Ray Breslin, a security expert specializing in prison security by inserting himself into the prisons and figuring out how to escape to help to show them how to beef up the holes in the system, but then he is offered a very lucrative offer for a privatize  offer to try to escape from an “illegal” prison by the government (although to me that would have been a huge red flag and if an offer is too good to be true, it probably is point).

Ray finds out shortly that the warden it not who is planned and he can’t use his code to get out of the situation and find out is a real situation.  He befriends Schwarzenegger character and it unfolds from there.

Sam Neill plays the physician on board, Jim Caviezel (Jesus in “The Passion of The Christ” as the warden and Vincent D’Onofrio (Detective Goran from Law & Order: Criminal Intent and MIB” as Stallone’s characters partner that betrays him.

I think the subject matter is too intense for those under 18, but overall a good flick.
