Last Friday Kyle picked us up some Firehouse Subs and the above is one of their specialty sandwiches called a large “Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket” that is cut in half and comes with a pickle wedge.
I have written about Firehouse Subs before, noting the chain was founded by Firemen making food firemen and others with a hearty appetite for comfort sandwiches will love. This one was no exception, except the bottom of the bun was a bit soggy and I ended up removing it and eating it with a fork and knife.
It is a beef brisket smoked for nearly a day topped with , cheddar cheese, mayonnaise , Sweet Baby Ray’s® BBQ Sauce. They have optional toppings and probably the only on I might try is additional onion as it is a yummy mix for savory with a touch of sweet from BBQ sauce.
They are a bit pricier than Subway, but with more flavor, but they also have a lot more calories too. This one is nearly at day’s worth at around 1500 calories if you eat both halves of the sandwich.
I did see on their website that Firehouse Subs is working on an “Under 550 Calorie” section that is currently marked “coming soon”.
