Schoch’s Field Playground Memorial Stone

This memorial boulder is across the street from the Pepsi/Dr. Pepper building on 1207 N Harrison St, Fort Wayne, IN 46808 and in Front of Schab Metals.

The metal plate is corroding and it is hard to read but it states

“Schoch Field

Erected to the Memory the memory of many happy hours spent on this playground

1880-1900”

and then goes on to list names, presumably those of the children that once played on what was once a playground over 114 years ago.

I searched online, but wasn’t able to find any additional information, but it is a testament to time that while the playground and the children that enjoyed their days in the Summer sun and Winter Cold are gone, the stone and the tarishing plaque that memorializes that capsule in time are still here.
