Around this time of year local firemen walk the median and sometimes carrying fireman’s boot in which they collect money (usually for Muscular Dystrophy in conjunction with the Jerry Lewis telethon over Labor Day).

Not only do these brave men risk their lives to save people, they are also risking their lives is busy traffic to collect donations as there are accidents on this road all of the time.

I was involved in an accident near the spot I am taking this picture .   I was on my way to work after dropping Kyle off at school and  a woman who was speeding slammed into the  SUV behind me and pushed it into me while I was stopped at a stoplight; fortunately, no one was injured.

I donate if I can safely give to someone on the median when stopped in traffic, but there are some men that go in between the lanes and it makes me nervous they could be hit if the light change and people aren’t paying attention.
