***SPOILER ALERT***
I rented the most recent release of “Godzilla” and it was a major disappointment.  Like many movies of late that used to have a bit of camp mixed in with the horror, it has a more serious take.

Joe Brody (Bryan Cranston), the most interesting character in the movie, and his wife work at a nuclear power plant in Japan and the wife is killed in an accident of suspect origin.

Cranston’s portrayal of Joe Brody was more like a crazier version of “Hal” the Dad on “Malcolm in The Middle” who years later is still searching for the truth when he and his son find it when returning to the site twenty years or so later and find it was a large critter that sort of looked like a cross between the monster in “Cloverfield” and a giant spider.   We lost interest after Joe Brody character was killed off; we wanted to end up seeing a Heisenberg (“Breaking Bad”) transformation and triumph over the beasts.

Although Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Godzilla are to be the main characters, the Ford Brody character was bland and forgettable and although we didn’t finish watching it the movie , read online that the actual on-screen time for Godzilla was only 10 minutes.

I would recommend skipping this movie altogether.
