When my son was young, no matter how many popsicles or ice cream bars I would  have in my freezer, as soon as he would hear the music-box like tune tinkling through the air he would want money to get a treat from the Summer Song Ice Cream Truck.

Summer Song has been in business over 50 years, driving around delivering sweet treats to kids who’s parents had the money to buy them.    I remember sometimes getting cool treat when the truck would drive up our dead end street when I was a kid, but as money was tight sometimes it was a feeling of being left out watching other kids get goodies and sulk off to get a freezer pop from the fridge.

It is probably why I found it hard to turn down my son as the cost of one item was about the same as a box would cost at Kroger.   While the treats are a bit pricey,  the way my son’s face would light up at getting a cool yummy treat with the other kids on the block after playing on a hot day was priceless.
