We drove downtown to take a picture of the GE Sign on top of the GE Building while it is still there. It currently sits atop the 102 year old massive GE building.

Sadly, after being in town over 100 years the company has decided to close up all operations in Fort Wayne with the remaining people that work there losing their jobs.

News reports indicate at its peak in the mid-1960’s, GE employed over 10,000 workers in the area.

The GE campus a city block in each direction.  When I worked on the 24th floor of what is now the PNC building we had monthly meetings and from that vantage point and due to the size of the the sign and buildings, they  were clearly visible event though they were over a mile away.
