Recently Richard’s Donuts recently added Pizza to their offerings and they sell takeout by the slice or by the pie.

We decided to try the “Staten Island” Meat Lovers Pizza for $3.75 a slice, which has pepperoni, sausage, bacon and ham.  The portions were large; one slice about quarter of an average pizza.

It also generously covered with topping, but unfortunately they didn’t have much flavor and  I also personally prefer my sauce to be spicer, but I liked the crust.   Perhaps that is part of a New York style pizza.    We may try a different type of pizza from them in the future.

I was surprised that what was in the unrefrigerated former donut case was not just display, but our slices were taken from there to the back where the meat was added and then put in the bakery oven; I would have expected that if they are going to reheat and add toppings that the case be refrigerated and have a toaster oven or two upfront for re-heating the pizza, especially when taking clear to the back which leave the front counter unattended for several minutes.

As it was designed to be a bakery, not a pizzeria, there is only one small table and there is not much space for much more unless there would be a remodel, although the building itself is large. We have been a long time fan of Richard’s donuts and the ones that we had were good.
