This clever artwork is riff on Jack Nicholson’s portrayal of the lead in movie adaption of Stephen King’s book “The Shining” where he hacks through a door with a hatchet and provides a bit of comic relief in a very intense moment of the horror flick by saying the lead in line for the Johnny Carson show “Hereeeeee’s Johnny!”
Growing up I was a huge Stephen King fan, but “The Shining” was probably one of my least favorite; perhaps it comes living through the Blizzard of 1977-78 and being couped up most of the Winter. Despite cherishing those snow days off of school, having the snow drifted up past by bedroom window in the trailer not being able to get outside could drive a person batty. Guess it was too true to life to be horror for me.
I read the book before seeing the movie and at the time thought it was miscast; I didn’t like it at all. Even so, have to give pops to Nicholson as he always seems to pull off playing crazy but charismatic all at the same time.
The artwork is on the side of the the old Casa D’Angelo Building on Fairfield Ave. in Fort Wayne, IN which is now Wunderkammer Company Art Center that I first noticed 2 month ago (but have not been inside yet).
