As my son is now an adult, I don’t have any children’s coats, but participating as I remember taking my son to school one morning and seeing a little girl that goes to his school walking to school shivering in a thin dress with no stockings and no coat on a cold winter day.
I resorted to where I ended up buying most my son coats before high school and having the “in” thing was a priority and headed to the thrift stores to pick up a few coats and gloves. I decided to stick with hooded coats as kids tend to lose hats; I always did as a kid and so did my son.
I spent a total of around $20 for 4 name-brand warm coats and three pairs of gloves.
There is a national program, One Warm Coat has a map of places that accept coats, where you can donate money or information on holding a drive where you live.
